Finally, 2026 Mazda CX-5 is launched with much more longer size, more refined engine and have more tech features than its predecessors. To me it looks like a great upgrade but there are some pros & cons we need to discuss about it.
Pros of the 2026 Mazda CX-5
1.Affordable Yet Premium-Looking
Best thing about 2026 Mazda CX-5 is its pricing which starts around starts around €35,000 (~$38,000 USD) and even its top model loaded with AWD, panoramic sunroof, and upgraded tech stays under the €45,000 ($50,000).
2.Improved Dimensions and Practicality
- New Mazda CX-5 is now 469 cm (185 inches) in size which makes 12 cm (5 inches) longer than the previous model.
- I don’t know the exact number but let me tell you it has much more legroom compared to past model.
- Boot space is grown to 580 liters – 10 liters more than the CX-60.
3.Balanced Ride with Smarter Suspension
New revised chassis offers softer ride with softer springs and frequency-adaptive dampers. i haven’t driven this car yet but let me tell you 100% this is going to be much more smoother than previous model.
4.Elegant, Evolutionary Design
Mazda’s signature Soul Red Crystal exterior is an showstopper, it just look much more premium and eye-catching. Minor upgrades like black Homura wheels, new horizontal taillights, and two-dimensional badging overall enhance it’s design quality.
5.Upgraded Interior & Tech
- Upgraded 15.6-inch infotainment screen (top trims) with Google Maps and Gemini AI integration makes it much more tech loaded than ever.
- European models will have standard automatic transmission.
- New digital instruments and HUD makes it much more difference in overall driver experience.
Cons of the 2026 Mazda CX-5
1.Sluggish Acceleration
It’s 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder with 24V mild hybrid (141 HP) just not feel refined to me. its acceleration figures 10.5 – 10.9 seconds (AWD slower) are underwhelming for the segment. However, good news is more powerful variants are expected later in mid cycle refresh.
2.Loss of Prized Physical Controls
I mean why? in climate control why they are opted for touchscreen/slider only and not kept original physical controls. Steering wheel also now have capacitive “buttons” instead of physical switches.
3.Panoramic Roof Mechanism Noise
I have seen this in many videos and let me tell you electric motors operating the panoramic roof does make some noise. although, you will get used to it but in the beginning yes they are annoying.
4.Leather-Only Top Trim Seats
Leather is only given in Homura trim it means lower trims will miss it but more breathable fabric or leatherette options.
5.Small Rear Turn Signals
Overall, 2026 Mazda CX-5 has a good design and exterior but very small turn signal indicators making it potentially raising visibility concerns.
