Mitsubishi’s 2026 Pajero Sport Caught Testing with Bold New Design

The upcoming 2026 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been spotted testing in Germany, showcasing a design heavily influenced by the latest Triton pickup (L200 in Europe).

Set to launch next year, the fourth-generation SUV features a stronger ladder-frame chassis with 60% more torsional rigidity and a slightly larger footprint (+15mm length, +50mm width).

Spy shots reveal Triton-like front styling and triangular taillights reminiscent of classic Lancers. Inside, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system is joined by physical controls for key functions, though gloss-black trim dominates the center console.

Competing with the Ford Everest and Toyota Fortuner, the 2026 Pajero Sport is expected to debut in the second half of 2025, bringing modern upgrades to Mitsubishi’s rugged SUV lineup.

Powertrain Options and Off-Road Prowess

Under the hood, the Pajero Sport is expected to share its engine lineup with the Triton, offering options for both performance and efficiency.

A naturally aspirated 2.4-liter gas engine serves as the base option, producing 130 horsepower, while two diesel variants—a single-turbo and a twin-turbo—provide up to 201 mechanical horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic, catering to diverse driving preferences.

For off-road enthusiasts, Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system stands out with features like a center torque-sensing limited-slip differential and a 4LLc mode, which locks the differential and engages lower gears for demanding terrains.

Stay tuned for more details.
