The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS facelift has been spotted in cold weather, unexpectedly being towed by a V8-powered G-Class. Although the reason for the tow is unclear, the prototype’s headlights were on, indicating it still had power.
The facelift brings updated headlights with a starry lighting signature, which is expected to appear across other models. The rear end remains largely unchanged, but starry taillights could be coming.
Inside, the car is expected to see tweaks to its infotainment system, including an upgraded version of the optional Hyper screen setup, which features a massive digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen, and a passenger-side display. With ambient lighting potentially adding to the visual spectacle, the cabin could prove distracting, particularly for night drivers.
Mercedes-Benz made notable updates to the EQS in April 2024, including a front-end refresh inspired by the internal combustion S-Class, as well as a larger battery and improved regenerative braking software.
These enhancements are likely to continue in the 2026 model, though significant changes to the vehicle’s platform are unlikely as Mercedes focuses on its next-generation electric architecture.
Rumors surrounding the 2026 EQS suggest the possible introduction of an 800-volt setup as part of the automaker’s upcoming refreshes.
There’s also chatter about new electric drive units, updated battery cells, and enhancements to the 4MATIC dual-motor system, as well as a more efficient two-speed gearbox for better high-speed performance.
Pricing for the current EQS lineup starts at $104,400 for the rear-drive 450+ version, with more powerful versions available at higher price points. For the 2025 model year, the Mercedes-AMG EQS Sedan starts at $147,550, offering up to 751 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds.
